Commercial/Residential Multi-Family Complexes
The
Traditional American Dream House
was in cities and were two and three story row, houses. These types of houses
were prominent in large cities during the early days. New emigrants still use
the store front house in low income neighborhoods to get a business started.
They start a business on the first floor and live on the second or third floors.
Many of these families would lived in one apartment and lease the others. They
open grocery stores, cleaners, bakeries, shoe repair services and many other
types of business enterprises.
Today’s
Live-In-Investment Condominium offer current renters and first time home buyers,
a chance to return to this American Dream
House Model. In modern time these houses are known as the duplex and
quadruple. Buying a house and taking out a long term mortgage will become less
attractive as two family income households become a permanent part of the
American family structure.
Business
Property Homestead Program (BPHP)
A
Business Property Homestead Program (BPHP) has been established for
entrepreneurs who want to start a business and need a place to live. This
program combines business and living conditions for inner-city residents. The
BPHP target single parents who want to start a retail business venture and need
a property with the proper zoning to accommodate the type of business they wish
to open.
The
Consortium’s homestead business model use the storefront with living quarters
over it, to recreate the Traditional
American Dream House. This program is aimed at single parents, especially
single mothers. This living arrangement will allow a parent to be home when
their children return from school. It will also teach young children how to be
entrepreneurs by working in the family business ventures.
